Went to see the Cambria Road Choir in Loughborough Road; could join them, they're recruiting in Sept. They did a mean version of 'When Doves Cry'. The gaff is owned by a nice Mauritian lady; i was under the impression that it would be proper ghetto down there but it's upmarket gentrification. I'd gone there with hair tied back and a touch of leftover eyeliner from a costume fitting; was hoping to look more willowy Jack Sparrow..the production want more menace than prettiness. If they want verve in the action scenes they'll see that on the test filming day. We were on the edge of town; leafy and for a moment spirits soared a little bit higher before we re-entered the smoke. An Asian pak-choi style broth for tea.
Sun was good yakka with Kingston Fest dismantling; donning safety gloves and a hard hat. Didn't go crazy with the leftover ale; some of it was poured down the drains. A dozen of us had a sitdown Sun lunch afterwards as part of the communal effort.
Sat Streatham Common-Shepherds Bush then an express 607 from outside Westfield to Ironbridge which is impressive iron wrought. We did a Swedish corporate video. Southall disused railway depot is interesting. The production provided us complimentary McDonalds. Been meeting some interesting people; it's about being progressive, new ideas, looking through new angles.
We got away earlier than anticipated which gave a chance to get an art fix. There's a gallery near Acton old town hall. Sequin Kay's Twisted Nature was the best one; a blingy, glittery hubcap of a display. Amy Dignam's Monster Mum was cooky. There was a Cactus Head, something called I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member. Like the half alluding tone of Mariya Ustymenko. Mechanica is half camera, half gun. The Wonderful Wonderful Soup-Stone had an expressive look. There was feelings of trepidation and 'don't forget the bleeding hearts'. Just next door is the Dragonfly Brewery so a half of Achtung baby didn't go amiss.
Shepherds Bush- Bexley via Charing Cross. Couldn't make Crystal Palace with a few of the lads; missed the cheerleaders. By the time i got to Old Dartfordians i was told that Hull were winning the Cup Final 2-1. But they scored too early and Arsenal were desperate for a trophy. Ah this was good; cricket on a sun-warmed field. Had some yum salt beef; did some chilli beer tasting with Mario and his friend. Anna, Ian, Paul on good form; Graham lovely. Met some engaging Crayfordians; i like getting around, a taste of Kent. Left about 9.30pm just after sunset.
