shenanigans

Tonight we went to the Pit Bar, Waterloo again..didn't see Kevin Spacey from the Vic. Tattinger..nice. Dropped in at Cubana. Then dinner at Las Iguanas; i have xinxim..perfectly cooked chicken, crayfish with lime, coconut, crunchy green beans. The mate from Argentina was great; it's a strong, refreshing tea. Did a recccy at Arch 1; yup open at 12.30am. Was meant to finish at 3am but the manager told the dj to play on..he's a dance dj dying to break out, goodstuff. 3.15am it was fight time and proceedings were called to a halt.

Thurs went to Dalston described by the Guardian as the coolest place going. You have art, jazz here. Went on my own but found the locals to be friendly and receptive; there are a few Hoxton, Nathan Barley types. Should visit the Superstore. More art Sat evening.

top night

Fri went to the Postal Note, Crystal Palace then a crawl in Kingston. The Canbury Arms were up their arse so onto Willoughby Arms. It's a well marked pub trail. I like the Park Tavern in New Road; the punters and staff. I had Batemans. After the Richmond Arms ate at Deea Bangladeshi cuisine. The tandoori salmon and duck curry were treasures; washed down with draught Kingfisher. Dodge caught up with us. Went to Dogstar for the White Lies gig afterparty; we winged the entry. You get your chancers in there; 'can i have your coat?' 'na i'm using it' i reply.

Sat saw final score at the King's Tun, Kingston with a pint of Comfortably Numb Pink Floyd style. Some trucker there looked at me and made disparaging remarks to his equally posh friend. Went to Camden; was going to have Thai veg buffet but plumped for Vietnamese pho..the taste of mint reminded me of Ho Chi Minh city. The meeting place Worlds End was 2 seconds away and when Dodge said he was in there i paid up and scooted over. World's End..Touristtrap or great starting off point? A wee bit loud music; i had Newcastle Brown no glass student/ tart style. Met interesting characters in there; rock, metal theme. I was persuaded to throw a paper plane at some people. Security directed me to the dining area so that i could hear the mobile phone convo whilst annoying the punters there.

Then to Inspiralled. I met Don Letts; told him that i'd previously seen him at Big Chill. Sat was an outstanding night. The atmosphere, personnel there. I was given the directive to dance by the promoter and i was happy to warm up the crowd. You can have vege food and organic lagers on a Sat night out. Met Paathan. We were going to stay till 11.30pm but so good was it there that we left a little after 1.30am. Our night was not finished; we were going to drop in at a warehouse party in Limehouse, to see a dj friend on the decks for his birthday set. There was an upstairs loft where you could look down at the dj's. A peace vodka passed around got people further on their way. We started a limbo contest. The whole vibe was friendly and unantagonistic; you could feel it in the air. We danced till just after 7.45am; i'd gone out to the balcony to see the sunrise over Docklands. In the party ppl were hula hooping, sitting on swings; i bongoed. It was wonderful to be there. My dj mate was buzzing and enthusing about it Sun night.

Outside there was a convoy of sports cars going down the a13. They played it up to us. We needed food; in the absence of nearby greasy spoons we went to the ever reliable Balans in Soho on the 15 bus. We had one of the ravers join us. Eggs florentine and bloody marys strong enough to put hairs on your chest. Our new friend did a burp that made our waiter come back and say 'who did that? It was impressive'. We wanted one for the road but couldn't find anywhere open. I slept for a large part of the day from midday; i'll do Bethnal Green next Sun along with Dalston. Heard about Spurs' 9-1; 9 goals in the second half, like one every 5 mins. And the 9th goal wasn't deflected or a tap in; it was a Krancjar cracker. Eng had a fine win over S.A in the cricket.
The standards have been set. Hopefully a house party on Sat will be a right good un.

Reshaping and morphing

What am i holding onto? Sticking to what i know ie comfort zones? I don't care what circle i've created; it's an eighth circle of hell. The owls are not what they seem. Tawny, wise, misaligning. Some days i don't look out of the window. Tried my best; often failed.

Helen said 'join us in a Christmas songs war'; magic. I did Wombles and Roy Wood, Freiheit, Whigfield's 'Last Christmas'. There's a Dubstep Snowman. Feel my bitch hand.
So gentleman Henry cheated? 'New' countries at the World Cup; New Zealand, Algeria, North Korea.

equalizing the odds

Yesterday had a gingerbread latte. Then went to the Euston Flyer, Rocket, Bree Louise with Subway sandwiched (boom boom) between..footlong. Spoons at Baker Street where we offloaded a few Camra coupons. The Oxford Street lights were ok; the shop displays probably bettered them.

Sunday Chinese buffet in Croydon where i particularly enjoyed the tofu soup and orange jelly. My Beijing Olympics top went down well with the staff. Spread Eagle after to see loqacious Gus Poyet's first match as Brighton manager. Promising start; he might do good stuff. There with Maxi and his dad. Gales Winter Brew was yum. You also had the formidable Manny Pacquiao who made mincemeat of Ricky Hatton on the other screen 'where do i look?'

Sat was all about Deep Purple. Didn't catch much of the Eng Brazil match; it would be nice to beat the big teams. There was a nice sense of expectancy at Hammersmith for the headliners. The vocals have lost some of the bluster but we saw them. Dio next. Still rueing missing ZZ Top. Had a late one in Brixton thereafter; as a tight unit me and Helen are unstoppable.

The cat Tuffers was ousted from Strictly ahead of pegleg Rouass and Jade who didn't dance? How does that work?

Ed Wood-ward is no longer with us. The Wicker Man is one of the scariest films i've seen. Not as scary as his final resting place for the stars Eastenders but it'll suffice. There was also the mid 80's version of Harry Brown the Equalizer. I wanted to equalize the odds, the cards dealt to me but it's not going to happen.

Sold out

Hamming it up to the masses. Maybe i expected too much from Swedish House Mafia. Axwell's classic is 'Feel the Vibe'..well i didn't feel it last night. I posted the song online; i remember the old tip. Somehow along the road the mafia have got lost to Ibitha. It was remixes; appealing to the commercial chavs. The potential was there; on till 4am. Me and Barry wore Henrik (Larsson) tops which went down well with the Swedes. At least David Hayemaker won against 7ft2 23 stone Ivan Drago from Rocky/ WWF.

Saw Palace beat a poor Boro 1-0 at brilliantfootball.com@ Selhurst Park. This is a good name change unlike Newcastle and possibly Chelsea. It's been a great week for St Pauli beating Rostock and Dusseldorf. At Rostock when Pauli players were taking corners stewards put umbrellas over them; not to protect them from rain but a flurry of objects from the home fans. What if the objects bounce off and hit the stewards? At the end in front of the away fans a Pauli flag was planted down Souness Galatasaray style, the roar was fantastic. Some Dusseldorf cheats in the other game; 'zimulant' is simuating.

Thurs saw Royksopp; i like Scandinavians eh. Viking fans there.
Fri two galleries in Camden and East Putney. The former a lot of geometric lines though real man quiche offered at least partial redemption. Beat a hasty retreat back south where the edge was more guerilla. One musician did contemporary songs using a banjo.

Today was restful bordering on restless.
Mon some film preview in Wimbledon.
Thurs Tokyo de Janeiro at Life
Fri a birthday
Sat Deep Purple which promises to be amazing.

the thoughtful

Spending an explosive fireworks night at the chilled tones of Royksopp with Westfield beforehand not Westlife. We can always do our own fireworks with sparklers. Guy Fawkes; the ultimate anarchist v for vendetta. Had vegetable burger in batter during Lion v Liverpool; surely a contradiction in healthy terms. Big up Rubin Kazan; sounds like a politician.

Chance works both ways; both favourably and detrimentally. Some of the artists at the Tate Modern used the element of chance in their work. A ghost from Xmas past resurfaced today; through a large scale of underhandedness. People may think i'm stupid or they just don't care that they're 'dissing'. Detractors trying it on can make you stronger both singularly and in collaboration. Use pressure; force and motion. Sometimes things can change quickly; other times it's a more drawn out geological process..pressure and time. I know i occasionally set myself up like someone in a safari wearing a suit of ham. These are contemporary aesthetics; inner onto outer struggles.

SuperBoris hey? More pertinent is that under Red Ken bus fares went down; in Jan 2010 you're going to be received with a 20% increase. What has Boris done with the reserves that were in place with Ken?
