Recovering in a dark room

Saturday morning saw the lovely guys down Brass Monkey, Nottingham at 3am. This place wouldn't exist in London; you'd have sneering bouncers, aggressive clientele, wouldn't be free to get in and  would close at 1am rather than the 4am here. There's deckchairs in the upstairs chill lounge.

Later got a staff coach from Birmingham to Cookham, Berks for what I thought would be a routine event but would be life defining. We were on from 11am. The first act were the Specials; how to hit the ground running- A Message To You Rudy et al.
Blancmange had the cleanest production; pure dance beats. A bearded Neil Arthur; looks like Colin Firth. Music is therapy; breakthroughs to a life you knew before or what you could've been. That happened with Don't Tell Me; a vision of the moves. Nik Kershaw; Wouldn't It Be Good- you're working when the songs of your life are being played out.
Clocked off later; saw Marc Almond. The Days of Pearly Spencer; a plaintive ballad. Wave Hello, Say Goodbye- the gamut of emotions. It was probably sung to me but i'm claiming it back. My freakshake brings the girls to the yard. Nutritionally balanced, went for a run. You do journeys you wouldn't have done before.

La Liga; being shown up for the sham that it is. A two team league existing in a bubble; the world and UEFA creaming over Barca but its tactical ass exposed bare by Liverpool- bad losers. Real Madrid doing their dirty, xenophobic laundry in public; Zidane and Bale-lacking all class. Player power here, manager power there. They've not been the same since iconic Ronaldo left for a new challenge.

So you get up at a very early hour to eat ahead of sunrise; then do you go back to bed? Went for a walk in the dawn rain; fresh air.
When you work flexible hours you can go out on a Thursday to see your friend who's having a birthday. Went to the erstwhile Junkyard in Nottingham and adjoining Kilpin. Binge rest and exercise; interval training. Having liver, kidneys, sardines for dinner tonight.
Mansfield were on the box last night but there seems to be apathy; could've stayed in Nottingham longer. No football distractions and hopefully less rain today.

Wednesday thoughts

This is good; it's raining, scanned as i shopped- got grapefruit juice and now i'm in the library. I'll be working most weekends.
As of last night i believe in miracles; Liverpool were intense and ran Barcelona ragged. That 25 min passage between the 54th and 79th minute was so breathless i needed my defribilator. The previous night Liverpool were hit with a Kompany bolt from the Blue miracle; so you come back with one of your own. Your brilliance is better than your mistakes; magic enough to do it the hard way.

I am fasting; an abstinence. No eating till 8.45pm tonight and from 5.17am again. Last night had a sandwich, lean chicken fillets, salad, coleslaw. You look at food a different way; it looks brand new again- taking nothing for granted. Went to the gym early evening.
Mansfield have a play off tomorrow and Sun evening. Tempted to go to Brass Monkey, Nottingham Fri night for tunes.

I remember discovering a product in Lidl i liked having palm oil; from that upset to the joy of now Selfridges not using it, nine months ahead of schedule. Orangutan extinction rebellion.

Elevate

Could've done with a club run being at midday today; other breweries and bars did open at that time it being a Bank Holiday; did my own run. So in the evening was with family; had a leg of lamb with herbs. There was some earlier karaoke; Over You, Jealous Guy and Don't Stop the Dance a Bryan Ferry/ Roxy Music theme. Take away pizza went down well; from Brewdog, better than Franca Manca sourdough i'm told. Vegan a nice antidote to meat.

Don't be put in your place. Your place is at the top table. Sometimes to get to the best you go through the worst; you'll enjoy the new eras.

Sun night met nice friends in South Ken; wasn't expecting to have dinner. The tasting room upstairs at the nearby Bolton sadly closed at 10pm.

Festival season is picking up; hustled 5 jobs on a Bank Holiday, they're wheeling me out for the summer.

Excellent standards by Trump  and Higgins in the Snooker. Elevate things in life; create something that it wasn't before. What you thought you can't do you can and will.
