Eyes Wide Open review
I was at the q@a with director Haim Tabakman. Ezri, means help, so he was 'sent' to galvanise Aaron's regimented existance. Aaron didn't even know he was being suffocated. Ezri's raw power and power of suggestion made Aaron 'alive' again when he was feeling 'dead' inside. Aaron was resisting; 'i have my family' and Ezri said 'i only have you'. One can see it as respecting the doctrines of others while holding back his 'evil side'.
Aaron's wife is understanding and forgiving of her husband's trespass. Ezri's breeze of change against the othordox environment makes for a stunning ending. The ostracisation of the outsider is akin to Witness and the love story of Jew men with hats draws the parallel with Brokeback Mountain.
