Didn't start work at Battersea at midday; family member in hospital. 4pm was fine; good to see the usual coterie. I was stuck at reception; directing punters to the cloakroom and glasses, ticking on a tally counter..the interaction side i enjoy. The Mayor's lovely assistant blew us a kiss for sterling work. The heralded beer list in the end wasn't enormously exciting. Was Saltaire Hazelnut Coffee Porter on? My arse was it. Did have Black Iris' Intergalactic 6%; homage to the Beastie Boys? Their Iron Gate Stout went at a reasonably robust 5.5%. There was a Migration Song. Empire Brewery had Strikes Back. Rugby inspired ones- Crouch, Sinbin.
There were still some Christmas ones which pleased me; Yule Be Sorry. If you have Liverpool Organic on it needs to be Shipwrecked which you can get at the Euston Tap. Centennial, Motueka hops were available. Ysgawen was not an anagram. Rat of Khan, Lab Rat were there.
Treetops African Stout sounded good enough to eat; roasted millet, toasted yams, Kenyan coffee and Madagascan vanilla pods.
There was a designated strong beer bar; 8, 9, 10+ %. CJ cider was okay. I surrendered to a French Fievre de Cacao £3; bottled..After my shift i caught up with Ian, Graham, Matt, Kiran, Nancy, Mike, Jane; i should get out more. Was able to drop in the next day for 2 hrs. Well worth a visit if not been there before.
