Diary catchup
The slightly mad week started in sedate fashion with some filming in Sittingbourne on Mon. Fully loaded with warm layers we confronted riot police and i got some kicks in; i goaded the fellow aggressives..some of the cops were ex-military so they held back.
Tues the tide turned a bit. Did a stint at an Australian investment bank; in the afternoon the law firm i work for requested me for the next day..a flattering tug of war followed 'We want him too'. After 6pm went onto Pigs Ear fest; serving punters relaxes. It's one of the best fests. The law firm isn't far from the fest and i stayed overnight in the chapel as planned in front of a big blowy heater.
Wed morning i came out to snow and ran for the bus. The fest has form for snow; sadly this time it was a dusting rather than the more photogenic settling affair. Worked without a break from 8am to after 5 before contractors Christmas-do time in Village East. Things moved nicely with sausage, and rocket to graze on. The ubiquitous questions asked at do's this time of year are 'How are you spending Christmas?' You find out about colleagues sexual proclivities..From works do back to Hackney where the atmosphere was truly festival, staffing officers were smiley. Bedside ale..
Thurs did a 10 hr thrash at work as the net turned blue with Stuart Hall jokes. Went to a local Crimbo do where there was.. sausage; me and Mark's hopes for a Saffer style braai meat blowout were a touch dashed. The chicken had an indeterminate quality to it; we wore paper party hats and recalled It's a Knockout. Graveney and Meadow down Tooting Broadway provided post 11pm action. The day didn't stop there as i boarded the last tube to get back to the office. Me and a drunk Pole, does this phenomenon exist?, were sniping on the tube 'You're big man aren't you?' he came out with. There were a few revellers in town. I worked 12.30am- 3.30am; thought it might be till after 7am but the workload wasn't too bad. My Lancastrian friend had said earlier that London offers this fast moving possibility. England doing well in the cricket amidst allegations of Indian disinterest.
