Lost in action
Went to the Horse Show in Olympia; sterling stuff even without Ukrainian cassocks.. hope to go back next year. I asked Ruth about an ex and she said ''we've lost her to moutaineering'' or caving; compulsive characters..you can't make it up..what an amazing decade. Despite difficult and demanding i still would've loved. Don't want to push away..my luck; i'll take responsibility. These are the challenges i enjoy. I knew a touch of self destruction, i know atonement, i know reinvention.
Camra Xmas dinner Tues night, 16 of us; the wild boar terrine was gorge. On the way i'd gone to the Filipino place for a beer and a song; they know me. I was after the Carpenters 'Merry Christmas Darling'. After the Leather Bottle i suggested after hours in Tooting Broadway; went to the Tram Social.
Mon saw the slightly dire Man U v Arsl; which the 3d wasn't able to save. From Blithe Spirit to Auntie Beeb to the Bedford where we sat in front of a real fire.
Sat my first high speed train St Pancras to Canterbury West. We fairly raced through the pubs; had a good kitty going. I had my first snowball; eggy and bubbly, prefer it since without lime; things just snowball. Eating is cheating so before re-embarking on the HST i bought chips ie stodge. When i asked for just salt it was more like 'do you want chips with your salt?' Jobor the Bengali word for copious.
Do no 2 was in Farringdon just up the road from St Pancras; the tv supporting artists. There's a regular nucleus of us plus first timers in quite a compact place so you need to back out sometimes.
Last stop on this day of reunions was a school one. On till 3am but 2 was fine. In the street saw kids out in prams with their partying parents; sounds good.
Forthcoming is a hog roast, another s.a's do, potentially Chez Bruce and snow.
England doing well in the cricket; retain the Ashes before Christmas?
